OpenCamp 2010 was a rockin' good time but there is no OpenCamp being held in 2011. Keep your eyes open here for 2012!

Session: Joomla! Development - From Modules to Components, It's Easier Than You Think! [Joomla Track, Advanced Level]

When Joomla 1.5 was released, it introduced a robust MVC framework intended to streamline development and provide standardization across extensions. However, its Joomla 1.0 roots, which had less organization and standardization, show through in many of the core components available. Because of this, there are few obvious examples to follow when starting out on your own. This session is meant to be an introduction to the development fundamentals for Joomla. Covering the "Joomla-way" of MVC, database interaction, user management, user state (cookies), and other concepts, you will be able to hit the ground running with developing your own extensions. PHP and MySQL background knowledge recommended.
