OpenCamp 2010 was a rockin' good time but there is no OpenCamp being held in 2011. Keep your eyes open here for 2012!

Session: Future Proofing Content [WordPress Track, Intermediate Level]

If you are blogging for the long haul and you plan on archiving and keeping your content, there are things you need to know about how your platform saves your actual articles.

In this session, Keith Anderson will display for all to see the ugly underbelly of what's in the database of a Wordpress blog and what that means for blog longevity. He will show you what he did to convert to Wordpress from the ancient Postnuke platform without losing search rankings. He will also build a case for you to crack a book and learn some markup skills to save yourself from dialing the suicide hotline if you ever have to change platforms.

About Keith Anderson

Keith Anderson is a 15-year veteran of the Technical Communication Wars. He has served with honor on many industrial fronts including healthcare, banking, telecommunication, retail, and IT consulting. He is also the first person his family calls when they have computer problems. Keith’s shady past forced him to take on many disguises to get the job done: trainer, technical writer, software developer, web developer, and business analyst. After a life-changing epiphany of epic proportions, Keith decided self-employment was not like the brochures and is currently working for Sprint as an application developer in the retail software division. Like most adult children, he spends too many waking hours on Twitter (@suredoc) hoping somebody will notice him, but feels he’s forged many genuine friendships as a result. Keith is also a Big Design Conference organizer and the creator of the “Beerinar", a spin-off conference about beer for beer lovers.
